Weekend Jaunts....

Wow...I've been very lax in updating, haven't I?

I blame my laziness most of all.  But then, yesterday, was another "Migraine Monday".  I hate Mondays (not really....I just seem to have a really bad headache at the beginning of every week.  Ugh).

Mara and I did get out over the weekend.  Saturday, we went shopping Downtown.  It's nothing like it was when I was a kid.  I spent most of my time living with my maternal Grandma - Mimi - and Great-Grandma - Mom Annie.  My paternal Grandma - Nana - worked downtown at McAlpin's in the Glove Department.  We rode the bus over it seems now like every week.  Visit Nana, get my cheeks pinched a little, then lunch at Mill's Cafeteria.  That was back when everyone wore dressier clothes, classier, respectable.  Now, not a day goes by when I don't see someone wearing their jammies either on campus or at work.  Geez.

But, I digress.  Mara and I had a nice day shopping at both Macy's and the 4th Street Boutique.  I spent $28.00 on three pairs of pants, two tops and two scarves!  Nice!  The pièce de résistance was stopping in Abby Girl Sweets Cupcakery on 5th Street.  Holy Crap.  I would have taken a photo to share with everyone, but sadly, they didn't survive the ride home.  Not for the reason you may be thinking, though.  It was Mara's job to hold the box....WITH BOTH HANDS.  Doh!  It had nothing at all to do with my driving... They weren't pretty when we got home but they sure did taste delicious.

Sunday, we made the trek down to Art Off Pike in Covington.  Lots of good art to see and some familiar faces I haven't seen for a while.  I bought a ceramic rattle (pretty cool) and Mara got a Frankenstein print and a necklace with a tiny bottle of Mermaid tears.  It was also another good snack-y day.  There were several Food Trucks.  Mara had a delicious grilled chicken, zucchini, cheese - and something else I can't remember - sandwich.  I, on the the other hand, had dessert.  I cannot stress this enough....if you are ever out and you see the big red and orange truck marked Marty's Waffles somewhere....STOP - BUY - EAT!!

Marty Meersman makes THE BEST Belgian Waffles you will ever, ever put in your mouth!  The best!  And luckily, the waffle survived long enough to have its portrait made.

The creepiest thing that happened to us was when we were at the Behringer-Crawford Museum booth.  One of the ladies there asked if Mara and I were related.  When we said yes, she told us she knew it!!  We had the same mouth!  How random is that?  Weird.  Pappy said she was probably just an Artist, because you know how odd Artists are.

Hey!

Well, here are some photos from our adventures this weekend.  I have more randomness, but I'll save those for tomorrow's post.  I'm getting behind in my daily communiques.

P.S.  I can't be the only one creeped out by some of the stuff I'm finding lately, right?
