“Autumn...the year's last, loveliest smile.”....

So...today I thought I might drive around a little and take some photos of the fall colors.  I abhor taking landscape pics - I'm not very good at it and that contributes greatly to my scorn.  On the other hand, I adore shooting single trees.

Irony anyone?

But...it was all about the colors today.  I keep seeing photos of the vine covered middle area of one of the parking garages at NKU and I wanted to get an eerie shot of it today while the fog was so thick.

Successful?  Maybe, maybe not.  I'll try that one again when there is a little more sunlight.  Nevertheless, here are some random "landscapey-ish" photos.  I am a sort of happy with them (at least the little red tree one...).

Enjoy.

Frustration...

So...how did YOU spend your Friday afternoon?

Me?  I spent 4 hours (!!) sitting in my car, trying to get it to start.  Ugh.  Last Thursday morning I had a flat tire at work, had to call Pappy to rescue me, and after a couple of complications, had to have my car towed to a garage in Wilder.  THAT day cost me almost $600.

Yay.

This Friday after class, I was preparing to leave the parking garage when my car wouldn't start.  What now??  I tried for a few minutes since it had done the same thing to me last Sunday at Burlington where I eventually coaxed it into starting.  No such luck this time.  I called Pappy, yet again.  He came up and tried cajoling Bessie with some yummy starting fluid.  She wasn't biting.  After all this, it was almost time to pick up Mara from her classes so I had her meet us at the garage.  Pappy called for a tow (again) but it was going to be a while before they would arrive.  He had to get my brother, Jason, from work so Mara and I stayed with the car.  We were not stranded without sustenance as we were right across from the Student Union.  Pizza and a Burger it is!  Well, by the time the tow arrived, it was 4pm, waaaay past my bedtime.

At least this was another opportunity to take more random (bored) photos.  Back to I Spy With My Little Eye...

What a week.

Sunday Fun...

So...Mara and I went to Burlington Antique Flea Market again this past Sunday.  For some reason this year I was totally drawn to the creepiest stuff I may have ever seen.  Maybe this is what's going on inside my head and it's just now leaking out.  It might explain away some of the freaky dreams I've been having.

Nightmares during the day.  Who knew?

Enjoy the CreepFest....

Okay...not everything was creepy, but what is REALLY is.  Who buys this stuff??

Shameful....

I am hanging my head, doing the walk of shame.  Someone should make me wear one of those sandwich boards around town pronouncing my malfeasance.  I promised myself, when I started this blog, that I would try to post something everyday.  Or at least every other day.

Bless me Father for I have sinned.  It's been 18 loooong days since my last post.  What should my penance be?  10 Hail Marys and 3 Our Fathers?  Nah...I need something even more harsh than that.  I'll think of some self-flagellation to impose.

Well....at least nothing big has been happening.  The October Photo Challenge bit the dust.  I knew it wouldn't survive - I'm horrible at those things.  I wasn't keeping up with this - how was a photo-a-day project going to endure?  I have at least been taking pictures.

Some.

I kind of go in spurts.  I'll take a couple of hundred in 2 or 3 days and then nothing for a week.  I need better discipline.  Maybe I will work on that these next few weeks.  The trees are changing, so there are at least some possibilities.  And, since I love capturing the tiniest of details, those opportunities are boundless.

Someone, please, crack the whip.  Help me.

Now whip it
Into shape
Shape it up
Get straight
Go forward
Move ahead

I'm a nerd.  :)

So...here are a few random things from the photo challenge: Fall. Leaves. Bubbles. Stairs.  I have a bunch of other stuff processed, so I can't use that excuse not to post.  Let's see how this week pans out.  (Keep tabs on me, Lisa.)

Enjoy!!

Everyone keep your fingers crossed....

Sheer Randomness...

I must be the Queen of Arbitrary Photography.  I shoot anything and everything that catches my eye.  Ultimately...this poses a completely funky dilemma.  I wanted to have a unique subject for each of my passages.  If I attempted this, I would be posting about 30 times a day!

So, bear with me.  I'm going to pony up a glob of pics today and try to get back on track tomorrow.  Mara and I started a Photo Challenge for October.  I'm going to post a week's worth every Saturday (we're both posting them on our Facebook pages, too).

Here's to pondering my next motif....(HELP!)

Enjoy my cockeyed point of view - a plethora of the magical and mysterious.

I bet that Lotus Elise (new) probably cost more than my house....

Oopsie....

I completely forgot to post the pics that I took while Mara and I were on our adventures Sunday....too much CRAP on my plate.

Old age blows.

Here they are...enjoy!

I cannot stress enough about the waffles.  Find Marty's Waffles.  Eat!!

SO...adventures...waffles, Mother of God, tasty water, panorama scouting, Krogering and stuck in freaking traffic for half an hour.  All ends of the spectrum.

I have a total and complete fear of ever being labeled "old-hat" - boring.

Never!!

Weekend Jaunts....

Wow...I've been very lax in updating, haven't I?

I blame my laziness most of all.  But then, yesterday, was another "Migraine Monday".  I hate Mondays (not really....I just seem to have a really bad headache at the beginning of every week.  Ugh).

Mara and I did get out over the weekend.  Saturday, we went shopping Downtown.  It's nothing like it was when I was a kid.  I spent most of my time living with my maternal Grandma - Mimi - and Great-Grandma - Mom Annie.  My paternal Grandma - Nana - worked downtown at McAlpin's in the Glove Department.  We rode the bus over it seems now like every week.  Visit Nana, get my cheeks pinched a little, then lunch at Mill's Cafeteria.  That was back when everyone wore dressier clothes, classier, respectable.  Now, not a day goes by when I don't see someone wearing their jammies either on campus or at work.  Geez.

But, I digress.  Mara and I had a nice day shopping at both Macy's and the 4th Street Boutique.  I spent $28.00 on three pairs of pants, two tops and two scarves!  Nice!  The pièce de résistance was stopping in Abby Girl Sweets Cupcakery on 5th Street.  Holy Crap.  I would have taken a photo to share with everyone, but sadly, they didn't survive the ride home.  Not for the reason you may be thinking, though.  It was Mara's job to hold the box....WITH BOTH HANDS.  Doh!  It had nothing at all to do with my driving... They weren't pretty when we got home but they sure did taste delicious.

Sunday, we made the trek down to Art Off Pike in Covington.  Lots of good art to see and some familiar faces I haven't seen for a while.  I bought a ceramic rattle (pretty cool) and Mara got a Frankenstein print and a necklace with a tiny bottle of Mermaid tears.  It was also another good snack-y day.  There were several Food Trucks.  Mara had a delicious grilled chicken, zucchini, cheese - and something else I can't remember - sandwich.  I, on the the other hand, had dessert.  I cannot stress this enough....if you are ever out and you see the big red and orange truck marked Marty's Waffles somewhere....STOP - BUY - EAT!!

Marty Meersman makes THE BEST Belgian Waffles you will ever, ever put in your mouth!  The best!  And luckily, the waffle survived long enough to have its portrait made.

The creepiest thing that happened to us was when we were at the Behringer-Crawford Museum booth.  One of the ladies there asked if Mara and I were related.  When we said yes, she told us she knew it!!  We had the same mouth!  How random is that?  Weird.  Pappy said she was probably just an Artist, because you know how odd Artists are.

Hey!

Well, here are some photos from our adventures this weekend.  I have more randomness, but I'll save those for tomorrow's post.  I'm getting behind in my daily communiques.

P.S.  I can't be the only one creeped out by some of the stuff I'm finding lately, right?
