"A thing of beauty is a joy forever..." ~Keats

So...

I decided tonight at dinner to finally set Chuck up on a tripod out on the deck and see if I could get a couple of nice shots of our little friends.

Holy crap!

I set the tripod close to the door with the cable release attached.  I ran the cable inside so that I could sit behind the blinds and take the photos.  Chuck's shutter sounds like a hammer and my little friend was kind of freaked out at first.  There was a big wasp sitting on the feeder which was adding to the mayhem.  It only took about 10 minutes to get more than 100 photos.  What can I say....I'm a maniac.  It's so tempting to try this again, but I would posting the same photos over and over if I did.  Well...maybe one more time (or so).

Here we go...

Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Look at his little tootsies!!  Think about this...my shutter speed was 1/80 of a second...how freaking fast do his wings move?!!

End all to be all...

some of us live
with such a love.
one that devours the mind,
dissolves the soul.
one that the body
cannot control
or hold.
one that consumes all.
the flesh and the bone.
the sky and the sea.

Praying Mantis....

So...

Check out my little buddy who was waiting for me at the front door this morning.  He was very patient with me - as I got more and more frustrated/aggravated with the fact that I can hardly hold Chuck steady these days.  Maybe I should start carrying around my monopod - for additional (emotional) support.  Hey, whatever works.

Never Give In - Never Give Up....

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

Tell it like it is...

Well...

Since I already took all of these, I might as well post them.  You got it...more flowers.  Sorry.

I stopped at the Campbell County Cooperative Extension Office the other morning on my way home from work.  They have REALLY nice gardens and this year they have certainly upgraded.  The only thing I was upset about was the amount of Japanese Beetles eating the roses.  So sad.  I've taken some nice photos from there in the past.  These aren't too shabby, either.

I also still have freaking "Southern Cross" stuck in my head.  WHY???
