“The connections we make in the course of a life--maybe that's what heaven is.” ~Fred Rogers

So...

Emily, Pappy and I attended a funeral today.  Emily's ex - Greg Egan - passed away on January 17th.  Apparently, he had been battling colon cancer for about a year and a half.  The last time Mara and I saw him was when I was getting dressed at the hospital after second knee surgery.  THAT was weird...and random.  He had lost a lot of weight, but we weren't sure if it was intentional.  Even though we didn't see eye to eye, cancer is a horrible way to go and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

He was only 43.

(I haven't been able to stop thinking about him this past week.  Now I wish I had said "Hi" to him when we saw him - instead of freaking out and hiding.  Kinda petty on my part.)

After we left the funeral, we had an adventure.  I had to pick up my new Tibetan woven wall hanging at an auction house (it's pretty cool!) and then Emily wanted to try and new carry-out restaurant she follows on Facebook.  It's call Sweets & Meats BBQ (located in Mt. Washington) and holy crap...it was delicious!!  After our picnic in the car, we went across the street to St. Vincent de Paul.  I found a couple of things (nice watercolor of a sailboat and a vase for my anthurium) and Pappy got a really nice cane.  We went to the Goodwill in Bellevue next where I found a (holy crap!) Frankoma Pottery Prairie Green pitcher marked $3.00 and since, it was 50% off store-wide, I only paid $1.50!  Score!

Back to the grind now, though.  So demanding of my brains....NOT.

Here's the last of the first batch of randomness...well, that's convoluted.

Enjoy.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful....

So...

More randomness.  (This is what it looks like inside my brain...can you imagine the cacophony?)

Not much happening lately.  I'm redecorating my bedroom - buying plants and shelving to get my "stuff" organized a little.  Maybe I'll do a little photoshoot when everything is in place.

I need to get Chuck out of hiding and get on the ball.  Come on Spring!!

Enjoy.

“Little by little one walks far” ~Peruvian Proverb

Well...

I guess I should get back up on the horse - so to speak.

I've been slacking on several fronts here:

  • I haven't really been carrying Chuck with me when we go out as I have been experimenting with the camera on my cellphone.  Trying to get a better grasp on how I can manipulate the (inferior) thing to make the photos I wish to create.  It is certainly a study in frustration.

  • I spend a LOT of time walking still, trying to maintain my weight loss.  I have gained 10lbs back since October - thanks in part to:  Vacation road trip to Las Vegas, Wedding, Reception, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and to the fact that I'm a fat chick who LOVES her sweets.  I have since started cutting my calories and I am happy to report that I have lost 6lbs.  Now I want to lose that extra 30 before the beginning of June (hey, I did it before, I can do it again).

  • I'm just plain lazy.  My boss was out on medical leave for 9 or 10 weeks (it's all still a blur), so I was filling in as the interim Site Supervisor - trying to take care of crap while still working 3rd shift....you know - four hour-long, required conference calls a week (each week) that occurred during the day.  You know, my MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!  Off the clock even!  That's a whole week of pay I VOLUNTEERED.  Then one of the officers got fired the second week...so we had 3 of us splitting 168hrs a week (I was working 68-72hrs).  Yay.  Needless to say, I was kinda glad when he returned.

  • There was another officer (finally) hired to replace the fired one but this one only lasted a couple of weeks.  So, back to working 7 days/64hrs for a couple of months.  All's well now.  New hire is working out well and I'm again working my normal 48hrs.

Now I need to get back in the groove of processing this backlog of photos I've made since September.  These first few posts are only going to have six random photos as I try to set a routine.  No surfing until I finish my blog post of the day.  Them's the new rules...we'll see how long it lasts.

I'm also running out of acceptable, non-repetitive content for my Instagram page. 😁

Enjoy.

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.” ~Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

So...

THIS crap....

I have such a freaking backlog of photos to process.  I haven't posted anything at ll from our Epic Adventure out to Las Vegas.

Best get on it....

How full of the creative genius is the air in which these [snowflakes] are generated! I should hardly admire them more if real stars fell and lodged on my coat. Nature is full of genius. Full of the divinity. So that not a snowflake escapes its fashioning hand.
