Sunday = Funday

So...

Emily was home for a couple of days...before she left for 5 weeks of training in Pittsburgh.  All I wanted to do was run in Jungle Jim's a get a couple of bars of the Goat's Milk soap I use...turned into a field trip...

THAT time is wasn't my fault!

"Too much time on my hands, it's ticking away with my sanity..."

Well...

This week I bought a wireless remote for Chuck.  More messing about when I'm bored...as you can plainly see here.

Man, I look really tired....

And when I zoom waaaay in, you can see how much I am "working"...well...watching True Blood...

No tripod, so I have Chuck sitting on a canister of disinfectant wipes.  Hey, ya do whatcha gotta do...

You can be sure I will experiment greater to (hopefully) achieve better results...Onward and Upward.

"Time keeps on slippin'...."

So...

Working 12 tonight...it's so incredibly boring.  At least I'm getting caught up on all of my binging.

Calgon...take me away...(please!!)

" There is a castle on a cloud, I like to go there in my sleep..."

So...

Last Wednesday's clouds were gorgeous.  We were out thrifting...again.

The sky reminds me of Toy Story...and Magritte

My family coat of arms ties in the back - is that normal?

So...

This is basically what happens every time we all go out shopping....

It's either trying on all of the hats or pressing all of the noise buttons on the police cars and fire trucks in the toy aisle.

Can't take them anywhere...

A lil sumthin' sumthin'....

Well...

I'm in the middle of another television show binge....last week was Banshee (and Strike Back  - for the 4th time)...this week it's True Blood.  So...here are a couple of photos to make me feel better about keeping up my posts.

Roast in the crock-pot and Legos...how much more random can I get??

(I only have to please myself)

Don't tell me how to live my life...You ain't the boss of me...

So...

The other night I brought some berries to work to go with my waffle I was having for lunch.  (Emily bought them for dinner...and I swiped them.)  The red raspberries show up fairly well against the crappy backdrop I have here...well...the side of the computer tower on the desk.  Hey.  Ya work with what ya got.

Adapt and overcome.

Well, I wanted to shoot the blackberries instead since they were freaking huge.  I mean, like the size of my thumb!  So, I improvised.  I just switched to my 50mm lens - which I am a little more comfortable using - too.  I wanted a makeshift lightbox, so I draped the unperforated paper towels we have in the office from the top of the computer tower down over the desk to make a seamless backdrop.  I then sat Chuck at the closest focal distance possible and set him for a timed shutter release.  This cuts down on my shaky camera hands.

Voilà.

Crazy sharp close-ups of blackberries.

 And...they were delicious.

"I'm tired of words and I'm too hoarse to shout..."

Okay....

All of the sudden, we have all kinds of flora and fauna going on at home.
  • It seems we are on the never-ending pursuit of the elusive Moonbeam Corepsis.
  • Penny found a little toad the other night (after he scared the crap out of her).
  • Mara found a little frog tonight - while walking Penny - and named him Mr. Beetles...then she came home and murdered a GIGANTIC spider.  (Well done.)
  • We have at least 3 hummingbirds visiting the feeder...Pierre, Giuseppe and the New Guy.
  • A Praying Mantis cocoon hatched in a bush in the front yard, so we had babies all over.  And remember Pablo came back to visit.
  • We saw the black snake, Jafar, in the tree at the Little Miami River.
  • Mara caught the fat tadpole, Buttons.
  • Wasps keep pestering the poor hummingbirds...stealing their food.
  • And this guy....a really big Katydid.  Cool!

I switched lenses this past weekend.  Hopefully it will help a little with my focus (Chuck handling) issues.

"You walked into the party...."

So...

How does that song go again?

"Well, you had me several years ago
When I was still quite naive
When you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved
And one of them was me
I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and...."

"Saturday night I was downtown, Working for the FBI..."

So...

Not much...just some photos from when Mara and I were waiting in Kroger's parking lot for Pappy.

(The hiccups are gone, but the tired and crabby still reign supreme.)

"What makes the Hottentots so hot?"

So...

I'm in a little bit better mood tonight - and I processed enough photos last night to keep me for a couple of days.

I have the hiccups, though.  Thoroughly annoying.

I know I have posted photos of red raspberries here before, but these babies were GIGANTIC!  I have this weird thing (only one??) where I absolutely will not drink milk that is within one day of being out-of-date.  Ever.  No exceptions.  I'll put water on my cereal before that would happen.  Well...the same can't be said about other foods.  Stale bread?  Pick the green stuff off and pop it in the toaster.  All good.  Stale doughnuts?  Microwave.  Gross apple?  Cut out the mushy part.  Red raspberries?  Eat the good ones and pick off the fuzzy parts...

These were the survivors...until after their portraits were taken.

"You're staying away just so I'll ask you where you've been, baby..."

Well...

I'm only posting one photo tonight (I'm crabby and I have some weird itchy rash on my arm that hurts).

The other night we had a "Blue Moon".  The second full moon in a calendar month.  I kept reading how rare they are...I know I've seen several.  Who knows.

AND...I made a giant rookie mistake.  Not paying attention to the surroundings of my subject.  I probably could have taken a few steps to my right and eliminated the powerlines.  Well, it is what it is.  (Crap...it doesn't even look like it's in focus...geez)

Goober.

It's Friiiiiiiiiidaaaaaaaay...... (so what)

Well...

Here we go...just...stuff.

This is a teeny-tiny metal 3D sculpture of the Eiffel Tower.  It's so teeny-tiny that after I started putting it together I realized I couldn't hold onto the pieces...and that pissed me off (a smidge) so I packed it into my loom box in my backpack to try again another day.  Hey - that's better than smashing it up, right?
