“What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?” ~Vincent Van Gogh

So...

Mara, Pappy and I went to the Cincinnati Art Museum last week to visit the Vincent van Gogh exhibit.  Well worth the trip - his work is absolutely beautiful.

Here are some observances...

“What am I in the eyes of most people — a nonentity, an eccentric, or an unpleasant person — somebody who has no position in society and will never have; in short, the lowest of the low. All right, then — even if that were absolutely true, then I should one day like to show by my work what such an eccentric, such a nobody, has in his heart. That is my ambition, based less on resentment than on love in spite of everything, based more on a feeling of serenity than on passion. Though I am often in the depths of misery, there is still calmness, pure harmony and music inside me. I see paintings or drawings in the poorest cottages, in the dirtiest corners. And my mind is driven towards these things with an irresistible momentum.”
~Vincent van Gogh to Theo van Gogh, July 21, 1882

“Success is getting what you want, happiness is wanting what you get” ~W.P. Kinsella

So...

I was digging through my old external hard drives (again) yesterday and found a couple of oldies-but-goodies to share.

I really need to get my butt back out there everyday....

“The moonlight lay everywhere with the natural peace that is granted to no other light.” ~Franz Kafka

Ok...

On the flip side of the Supermoon.

Yesterday's photo was taken on November 14, 2016, at approximately 6:15pm.  Today's photo was taken on November 15, 2016, at approximately 6:15am.

Cool!!

Now I want a telescope....

“I wish I could say that racism and prejudice were only distant memories. We must dissent from the indifference. We must dissent from the apathy. We must dissent from the fear, the hatred and the mistrust…We must dissent because America can do better, because America has no choice but to do better.” ~Thurgood Marshall

So...

I am having a REALLY hard time accepting the outcome of the election.  Not so much the fact the Trump was elected - and the BS he stated he was going to change, implement or eliminate - but the jackasses who now think that it is now okay and acceptable to treat people the way Trump was urging them to.  Reading stories of verbal and physical attacks just one day after the election is very disheartening.  No one should feel fear living in this country.  EVER.  Fear of what is happening at the political level is bad enough, but when I have to live in fear in my everyday surroundings, well...this is bad.  REALLY bad.

Please...can we not embrace the hate-mongering, racism and bigotry?  I thought we - as a nation - were mostly past this.

I decided to post photos of pretty flowers tonight.  I need to find some zen.  Maybe this will help.

“Pit race against race, religion against religion, prejudice against prejudice. Divide and conquer! We must not let that happen here.”

"Hope and fear cannot occupy the same space. Invite one to stay." ~ Maya Angelou

Okay...

Just some of my observances from the past few weeks...while I try to wrap my brain around WTF is going on with my country.  (sorry)

I made this photo several years ago, but Pappy, Mara and I went to the van Gogh exhibit at the Cincinnati Art Museum this past weekend, and we saw so many beautiful Impressionist paintings and I wanted to share my interpretation.

Pappy decided to pressure wash then paint the deck...this was the dude explaining the washer.  So much going on in this photo...

For some reason, I am obsessed with this building.  I pass it every morning on my way home and I love the colors and how it is lit.  Who knows...

This is so chaotic...

Steamy...

Weathered...

And a sad remnant of summer...

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.”
~Mahatma Gandhi

“Elections belong to the people. It's their decision. If they decide to turn their back on the fire and burn their behinds, then they will just have to sit on their blisters.” ~Abraham Lincoln

Please, please, please......go out and vote!

“Remember something, if you will, about voting: Voting is not a horse race, you're not going there thinking "Gee, I gotta pick the winner so I can brag to my friends 'Oh, I picked so-and-so and he or she won'". Voting is voting your heart and voting your conscience and when you've done that, don't ever, EVER let a Democrat or Republican tell you that you've wasted your vote because the fact is, if you DON'T vote your heart and conscience then you HAVE wasted your vote.”
~Jesse Ventura

(Holy shit...I just quoted Jesse "The Body" Ventura....)

"If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere." ~Vincent Van Gogh

Ok...

I have a couple of "Tree" and "Sky" photos to share.  One of the best parts of working 3rd shift - besides not having to interact with humans - is witnessing the sunrise on a daily basis.

Gorgeous-ness....

The least movement is of importance to all nature. The entire ocean is affected by a pebble.
