Don't look a Gift Horse....

I like getting to school early.  You never know what's being given away on the plaza and the earlier it is, the more likely you'll get a free treat!

This morning, Starbucks had a little kiosk at the entrance of the Student Union.  They were giving away small cans of espresso (ewww) and bottles of iced coffee (yum!).  I got in line and snapped up tonight's midnight snack....

I told Mara to get one, too, but she said she doesn't like coffee.  Who cares??  Now I have 2.  :)

It was a good day on campus....

Let's Go Krogering.....

Pappy and I went grocery shopping today - at the Krogers in Mariemont.  Normally, the grocery stores don't have a problem with me photographing anything in the store.  If they ask, I always tell them I'm a Photo student at NKU and I'm working on a project....

Usually works - even though I'm kinda bending the truth.

Well, I was shooting produce like a maniac (as I frequently do) and no one was paying any attention to me.  I guess the bakery ladies couldn't see me until I made my way up to the salad bar.  Nothing looked interesting there so I turned back towards the habaneros.  One of the bakery ladies had come running over and started hovering behind me, spying.  I was finished in that department anyway.

I went looking for Pappy (who had ditched me by then) to start participating shopping part of the trip.  He was in the bakery section, looking for a special loaf of bread.  The fancy desserts in the case caught my eye so I picked up Chuck Norris again to make a pretty picture.

Well, I only got off two shots when the mean bakery lady started yelling at me!  "No pictures, you can't use a camera!"  Geez, prissy-pants was adamant.  I apologized as I put Chuck back in my purse.

Apparently, she had no problem with me documenting the 'good-for-you-stuff' but when I got to the tasty stuff she had a fit!  Well, no problem.  I got a really nice photograph of a fancy, fancy mousse.

Ha.

My neighborhood...

I grew up in a huge subdivision in Villa Hills.  Actually, it wasn't all that big when we moved there in 1970.  In fact, our house was the 7th one built but when we moved away in 1985 there were over 500 houses.

When I bought my own house back in 1997,  I was constrained to search in "rural" Campbell County.  I will forever be grateful for that restriction.  Being able to lay in my hammock on Sunday morning with the sounds of tractors running and cows lowing never fails to bring a smile to my face.

I need to move back home.

Randomness...To Get Things Started...

Getting started....

Well, here I am (it's about time).  I am going to attempt to document what I see through the lens of my camera.

A couple of weeks ago I posted, "do you see what I see? ....it's there, you just have to open your eyes and behold the details of your surroundings."

Beauty is all around us, everywhere you look.  But, in our 24/7, over-saturated, overstimulated lives it is so easy to overlook the "elemental details".

I love being able to basically "stop and smell the roses", documenting those interesting little details we tend to overlook, elements which fabricate our lives.  I know I have been personally guilty of being so caught up in my life situations that I walked around wearing blinders, miserable and irritable, hateful to just about everyone.  Hopefully, my chronicle of the tiny aspects I tend to observe will help at least one person stop and witness the beauty of our world in which we live.

Come follow me on my epic adventure.
