Au revoir....

Well...

I just have a few photos to finish up our trip experiences.  It didn't last near long enough...it never does....

I kept hearing those beady-eyed flying rats calling my name every time I got into the pool...there was a whole herd of them!!

Saying goodbye...

I decided I wanted to find Emily a really cool shirt at one of those XXX places...no luck, BUT Mara spotted this as we were leaving...gluten free??!!

The sass on this one...

This is what happens when you try to get dinner on Christmas Day...

I had a delicious grilled cheese and pickle sandwich with fries...

Oh well...we went back to the hotel to swam and play in the hottub for a while.  I can't take credit for these three, I was driving.  Mara took some cool photos of the dreary, foggy morning in the mountains...

Hopefully, we won't have to wait another 5 years to take a vacation...

“I like this place and could willingly waste my time in it.” ~William Shakespeare "As You Like It"

Okay...

So, I need to get these photos posted (slacker)...we've been home for 2 weeks already...yuck!

I swear they're looking into my soul!  Creepers...

Christmas at the Miccosukee Indian Village...

Birds - on the Tamiami Trail...

And GATORS!!  I think I saw this first one on Pretty Woman the other night...

Fishies...

And this guy...holy crap, we saw so many beautiful birds on the Tamiami Trail!  I wish I had a really nice long lens so I could have gotten some better photos...

I'm ready to go back.  Any.  Day.

"Insanity runs in my family. It practically gallops." ~Cary Grant

So...

We went out to eat at this really cool restaurant that the caretaker of the house recommended...and PIGGED out.  If you are ever in Cape Coral, FL, I highly recommend Bubba's Roadhouse and Saloon.

Family...

Gotta love 'em...can't throw throw them back.

"And all the night's magic seems to whisper and hush..." ~Van Morrison

Well...

We really only spent one evening at the beach to see the sunset.  It was spectacular....

And afterwards...a quick dip in the pool for me.

(The color on this photo needed to be unsaturated a tad...I was a steamed lobster.)

I need a 6 month vacation - twice a year....Anyone else with me on this?

So...

Pappy rented a house in Cape Coral for our vacation which had a screened in pool.  Every night we would sit on the lanai with the floodlights on, which attracted bugs, which in turn provided snacks for the anoles.

The first full day in Florida, we made the short trek to Sanibel Island to visit the supposed "shell filled" beaches.  (Honestly, we had much better luck at Lover's Key State Park in Bonita Springs.)

We did find some native fauna, though...

I'm not sure what this little dude's deal was...he was soaking wet, airing out his feathers...

And there was an Osprey nest by the Lighthouse.

Sanibel Island Lighthouse...

 And some major sassiness...

Mr. Blue Sky, please tell us why, you had to hide away, for so long, where did we go wrong....

Well...

Here is the first batch of Vacation 2016 photos....

Day 1 - (I was riding in the back seat).  It rained most of the way to Valdosta, Georgia, where we stopped for the night.  This is were we fueled up in Walton - and had Denny's for breakfast.

I have a "steeple" thing...

When I was a kid, my cousins would stop (on their way to Mimi's house) at the fireworks places in Tennessee because it was against the law to own anything that exploded in Kentucky.  Michael McAnallen taught me so many naughty things you can do with an M-80...

That escalated quickly...

But, I guess redemption is on the horizon...(this is kinda creepy to me for some reason).

This was always an indication that you had reached Tennessee...

Georgia...I think I heard banjos...

Stuck in the interminable Atlanta traffic jam...you would think with 14 lanes it would move a little faster...

Yeah...no words...

Uh, okay.

Creepy-assed flying rats follow me EVERYWHERE!  Coo-coo, Toodles...

I have a "tree" thing, too...

Let the sun shine in, face it with a grin...

It seemed like it took FOREVER to see blue skies...but it was worth the wait...
